As the only community of its kind on the West Coast, The Highlands invites you to discover what makes the neighborhood so unique. 

Tennis courts, play fields, swimming pool, picnic area and a park are at the center of what makes this private community so special.  The common areas stretch from adventurous nature trails to the beaches of Puget Sound. The natural landscape does not end there, with access to the burbling Boeing Creek and views of the grand 100 foot tall old growth trees, this community highlights the significance of Seattle's history along with the quiet splendor of a neighborhood that values community.

The Highlands Preschool was built and endowed in 1922.  The school today offers a well-rounded three-year program for children who live in and outside of The Highlands.



First built in 1927, the tennis courts are regularly maintained and available to all members and their guests. 



The Florence Henry Memorial Chapel was built in 1911.  It is dedicated to The Highlands as a non-sectarian church and is available to any member wishing to make use of it.  The chapel has been used in the past for weddings, funerals, and baptisms in addition to silent prayer. 


Holiday Party

Every winter members get together for an annual holiday dinner and plays performed by members' children and grandchildren.  The event is held at the Seattle Golf Club in their banquet room.

Swimming Pool

Originally built in 1934, the fresh-water pool, wading pool, and bath houses have continued to be maintained for members’ use, with the most recent remodeling taking place in 2009. 



The Highland’s Croquet Court, its benches, and its equipment were donated anonymously in 1998 by a longtime member of The Highlands. 


The Highlands Picnic        

The Picnic is an annual two-day event held every summer.  On Friday, the membership hosts a golf tournament, followed by dinner and prizes. Saturday begins with a morning Fun Run and community breakfast.
